Wonder Reviewed by Siddharth Shetty

The book I will be reviewing today is
Wonder by R.J. Palacio.

Wonder is about a boy named August (Auggie) Pullman who is entering middle school. Auggie is nervous because he has never been to school. He has been homeschooled since he was little. On the first day, some kids at school start teasing him about his facial difference and Auggie gets quite frustrated. Still fairly quickly Auggie makes some good friends and one bad enemy. Can Auggie prove to his classmates that how he looks doesn’t affect his ability to be a good friend?

Auggie shows courage in Wonder when he doesn’t quit school even when his best friend Jack says mean things about him to Julian, an unkind classmate. His sister, Via, helps him realize that he’s just fine the way he is, regardless of what other people see. He also showed courage when he stood by Jack when they were being bullied by older kids while overnight camping on a school field trip. The older kids started calling Auggie names and ended up pushing Jack. Auggie didn’t run away and instead stayed with Jack until Auggie and Jack’s friends arrived as back up.

I give this book 5/5 stars especially because I love the end.  If you like Out Of My Mind by Sharon Draper then you would like Wonder by R.J. Palacio. In both of the books the main characters are trying to prove that in spite of their differences they are worth getting to know.
