Schooled Reviewed by Siddharth Shetty

Thirteen year old Cap Anderson has been homeschooled by his grandmother, Rain, since he was little. When Rain falls out of a tree and breaks her Cap’s world is thrown upside down. Cap has to move in with a guidance counselor and her daughter, Sophie, and go to a real school with unusual things he’s never heard of like lockers. Straight away, kids start bullying him for the way he looks and acts. Every year at Claverage (called C Average by the students) Middle School the biggest nerd is forced to run for eighth grade president and win. Cap is considered the dorkiest kid ever. Will Cap be able to stand the pressure?

Cap showed courage in Schooled.

Cap showed courage when he drove the school bus when Mr. Rodrigo, the bus driver had a heart attack. Cap knew how to drive since Rain had taught him when he was eight. The dispatcher told Cap to stop driving and that he would send an ambulance to them but Cap knew that it would take too long. Cap took Mr. Rodrigo to the hospital and he ended up saving his life. Another example was when he had walked in front Zach when Darryl was about to punch him. Zach had been trying to make a fool out of Cap for a long time. Zach and his friends had locked him in a courtyard, stole his shoes and a bunch of other things so I found it surprising that Cap was willing to get punched in the face to protect Zach. The last example of Cap’s courage was when he walked all the way back to C Average just to say bye to all of the students at the Halloween dance. Rain didn’t want him to go and he would've had to walk for miles if he hadn’t almost been hit by Sophie's car. When Cap gets there he says bye to all of the 11,000 students individually.

If you liked We Are All Made Of Molecules by Susin Nielson you would like Schooled by Gordon Korman. I enjoyed this book and would rate it five out of five stars.
