Cinder by Marissa Meyer Reviewed by Cindy Chen

Cinder is a cyborg/human that works as a mechanic in China. She lives with her mean stepmother and two stepsisters. Her step-sister Peony caught the deadly plague that has no cure. Many people have caught the plague,  no one has recovered and more and more people are catching it every day. Cinder is blamed for her sister's illness even though she did nothing. One day Cinder gets called upon by the Prince (Kai) to fix his royal robot Nainsi, Cinder gets information that she's not supposed to hear. Kai later asks Cinder to go to the ball with him not knowing she is a cyborg. She declines the offer but the prince is persistent. Cinder stays at home because her stepmom and stepsister do not let her go to the ball, but Cinder fixes Nainsi and goes to the ball to give her to Kai. What Cinder does not know is that the Lunar Queen Levanna is there. Lunars are people from the moon, they can control people's minds and influence people by controlling their minds. Cinder goes without knowing Queen Levanna's hate of Cinder. She goes to the ball and nearly gets killed by Levanna. Cinder does not why Levanna hates her so much though. Her sister is sick and is getting worse by the day and Cinder is stuck in jail and can not get out. She meets a Man named Carswell Thorne that says he can get him out but will they escape without Levanna and the other royal officials to figure out they escaped?

The pillar that represents this book would be courage because Cinder was having a very difficult time, her sister had caught a deadly plague without a cure, she is in jail not knowing if she can get out. A book that is similar to this one would be Renegades also by Marissa Meyer. I would rate this book a 5 out of 5 because it was so realistic and the plot was very captivating and there wasn't a moment that made me want to put the book down. I hope you enjoyed my book review.
