Young Samurai Way Of The Warrior by Chris Bradford Reviewed by Bella Mattenley

The book is based in 1611. It is about a boy named Jack who lived in England and was sailing with his father to Japan. In 1611 Japan was just being explored by the English, so it was pretty much a new place for Jack. An evil ninja pirate named Dokugan Ryu (which means dragon eye in English)  is trying to steal Jack’s father’s rutter (a rutter is a map drawn and written in diary form)  and in order to get the rutter Dokugan Ryu had to kill Jack’s father. Now without a father, Jack is adopted by one of the greatest Samurai ever, Masamato Tenno, who sends him to his very own school to learn how to be a Samurai so he can defend himself from Dokugan Ryu.

Jack had a lot of courage when he was trying to learn the language and when he was fighting for his position at Samurai school where he made several friends and several enemies. Jack also showed a lot of respect while trying to fit in, he had to learn respect in many different ways, and some extremely awkward!

Some books I have read like this are “The war that saved my life” by Kimberly Brubraker Bradley. It also talks about a girl who had to show courage through tough times.

I would definitely recommend this as a 5 star novel because it is fiction but still could be non fiction at the same time!

Thank you for reading!
