This book report is on Wuthering Heights, by Emily Brontë.
Wuthering Heights is about a young orphan named Heathcliff who was adopted by the wealthy Earnshaw family. He eventually gains a strong bond with one of the Earnshaw children, Catherine. When Catherine marries a generally more well-liked man named Edgar Linton, Heathcliff attempts to win her back.
I appreciate the fact that this book is a classic, but my opinion is that the characters had few redeemable qualities and were generally horrible to each other throughout the whole book - especially Catherine, who had a tendency to slap anyone who she disagrees with. The storyline is a little twisted (given that Heathcliff is technically Catherine’s brother, amongst other things). I did not really enjoy reading Wuthering Heights. I would recommend it to someone who is a fan of the classics (and who does not mind horrible characters, a hard-to-follow storyline, and somewhat unsatisfactory ending). I would rate this book one out of five stars.
