Percy Jackson Ι The Lightning Thief By Rick Riordan Reviewed by Yashita

Two years ago when I started reading this book I didn't have much interest in it because like in most books chapters 1 through 3 is like the foundation of the book. The author is trying to engage you to the characters and make you understand what their likes and dislikes are. So if you want to read this book beware that it isn't a very exciting start. When Percy Jackson ( the main character ) reaches Camp Half Blood he nds out that his father is not who he thought he was. Percy is given a quest to nd and return Zeus’ lightning bolt but instead of focusing on returning the bolt his only mission is to retrieve his mother from the underworld ( the world of the dead ). He decided to have his two friends Annabeth and Grover accompany him. But what will happen

when a voice tells him : You shall be betrayed by one who calls you a friend.

I know a lot of people will say the best middle school pillar for this book is courage, because in most adventure books the main character is adventurous so they have to have courage for the book to end as a happy ending. Even though Percy Jackson is courageous he also over a period of time had to learn how to give the community service. He learned that even though he wanted his mother back from the underworld returning Zeus’ bolt is more necessary during that moment because without it the world would fall apart.

If you have read Harry Potter and really enjoyed it this book is a good read alike to it. Overall I would rate this book a 4/5 stars.
