*Reading the first and second book, Uglies and Pretties is recommended before reading the third of the series*Tally Youngblood is a special now, but not just any special. She's one of Dr. Cable's special specials, also known as a cutter. She is designed to serve and protect the city from any danger. She can hear your heartbeat, smell your fear, and see your thoughts from a mile away. Tally is free from being a clueless and bubble-headed pretty. There's only one problem and that is the fact that Zane isn't with her. After Zane's brain got fixed from the horrible effects of Maddie's cure, Tally thought that he would get turned into a special right away but Dr. Cable didn't think he met the requirements. Tally longed to be with Zane and wanted him to experience being a special as well, so she and Shay came up with a plan to rescue Zane from being a bubblehead and prove to Dr. Cable that he deserved to be a special just as much as them. Tally then realizes that Zane will never give up the smoke and will refuse to become a special. Will she continue to protect the town that Zane claims to be dangerous towards other cities? Or will Tally use her special powers for something she isn't programmed to do? I think this book represents the pillar courage and would rate it 5/5 stars.
