Flora & Ulysses The Illuminated Adventures By Kate DiCamillo Reviewed by Denisa

A vacuum. A Ulysses 2000x vacuum, to be more specific. That’s what Tootie Tickham got for her birthday. As Mrs. Tickham turns the vaccum on, the vaccum slurps up everything in it’s path. Soon the vacuum pulls her outside and she accidentally vaccuumed up a squirrel. Finally, she manages to turn it off and a girl named Flora rushes to the scene and pulls the squirrel out. Soon, they start to realise that the squirrel’s name is Ulysses. Then they realise that the squirrel has superpowers! What adventures will Flora and Ulysses embark? Find out in the journey of “Flora & Ulysses The Illuminated adventures”!

I think the Pillar for this book is Respect because Flora and her father don't do what Flora’s mother said, which was to kill the squirrel. Instead, they embark in an adventure in many places. In the end, Flora’s mother appreciates the squirrel and lets the squirrel stay.

A look-alike for this book would be “Fish In A Tree” because both the main characters are different from everyone else and they’re both pretty much the same age.

I give this book a 5 out of 5 because it shares the point of view of the squirrel and Flora which I really liked. I couldn’t wait to turn the page to see what happened next.
