The City of Ember by Jeanne DuParu Reviewed by Karen Pan

The City of Ember is a book about an underground city that was built by people known as the Builders who build the city to keep humanity safe from a disaster. They also gave the first mayor of the city a locked box which holds the instructions on how to escape the city when they have to, which would unlock itself in 200 years. When Lina Mayfleet and Doon Harrow (two of the main characters) have graduated, the city's supplies are running low and is in danger of losing its power completely. That is when Lina and Doon know that they have to find a way to get everybody out of the city before it's too late. I think the main character(s) show the pillar Service because they are willing to take the time to figure out how to get everyone to safety. Other books I would recommend are the other books in The City of Ember series. I rate this book a 4.5 because there were small bits of the story that didn't catch my interest.
